A Tanzanian researcher and toxicology specialist with experience in pesticide management, occupational health, toxicology, environmental sustainability, and public health. He is the Founder and Executive Secretary of the African Transformation on Environmental and Health Action (ATEHA), a non-governmental organization dedicated to advancing environmental protection, public health, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and community empowerment across Africa.
Mr. Mwezi has been actively involved in research and field-based initiatives addressing pesticide exposure, highly hazardous pesticides (HHPs), environmental pollution, toxicological risk assessment, and occupational health challenges among farming communities. His work integrates scientific research, policy engagement, community-based interventions, and capacity building to support evidence-based environmental and public health solutions.
He has collaborated with national and international institutions, researchers, regulatory authorities, and development partners on projects related to toxicology, pesticide safety, environmental health surveillance, sustainable agriculture, and public health advocacy.
Through his leadership at ATEHA, Raphael Mwezi continues to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, research innovation, youth engagement, and sustainable development initiatives aimed at improving environmental and health outcomes in Tanzania and across Africa.
